Care & Safety

A little care goes a long way. Our candles are hand-poured in small batches, and following these simple rituals will help you enjoy a cleaner, safer and more beautiful burn.

Before you light

Trim your wick

Before each burn, trim your wick to approximately 1/4inch (6mm). This helps encourage a clean, even flame and reduces soot and excess smoke.

Choose the right surface

Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, open windows, fans and anything flammable.

While it burns, let it melt

On the first burn, allow the wax to melt close to the edge of the vessel. This helps promote an even burn and reduces tunneling.

Know when to extinguish

We recommend burning your candle for no more than 3-4 hours at a time. If the flame becomes unusually large, flicker excessively or begins to smoke, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, trim the wick and relight.

When it’s time to say goodbye

For safety, discontinue use when approximately 1/2inch (1.3cm) of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel. Burning a candle too close to the base can cause the vessel to overheat.

Allow the candle and wax to cool completely before handling, cleaning or repurposing the vessel.
